The Kieffer pear is the old standard pear cultivar known in antique gardens of early American explorers The pulp of the Keiffer pear is rather coarse and hard, preferable for pear preserves, and freshly cooked pear sauce, although it can and is eaten fresh off the tree. The Kieffer pear is late ripening in October, in time for Thanksgiving.
Very resistant to Fireblight.
