The leaf is the object of desire from the Bay plant (Laurus nobilis) and can be used either fresh (the way we enjoy it) or dried- kept in a sealed jar, it will last a long, long time. It is an important seasoning in soups, stews, vegetable and sauces. A bouquet garni would simply not be the same without a bay leaf or six included, and Bay leaves are wonderful foundations for decorative wreaths.

Many container grown Bay Trees are shaped into ball topiary forms to add additional interest to the plant.
