WELCOME TO RABBIT RIDGE NURSERY!
We're glad you found us! We are a small but growing Nursery in eastern North Carolina that originally specialized in container grown Hosta and Daylilies. Since 2002, we have gradually expanded our selections to include woody ornamentals, groundcovers, grasses, potted herbs, vines and hanging baskets, all available as container grown plants.
And then one day in late summer of 2010, we decided to reinvent ourselves all over again! We are now a major retail supplier and specialist in eatables and groundcovers. Many cultivars of: Apples, Plums, Pears, Peaches, Pecans, Grapes, Figs, Persimmons, Blueberries, Blackberries, Raspberries, Pomegranates, Lemons, Limes, Cherries, and more! And a host of groundcovers to fit your needs: be it for sun, shade, partial sun/shade, erosion control, flowering, evergreen, drought tolerant....to name just a few! And each of our Fruits and our Groundcovers have been carefully selected to not only grow but to thrive in our part of North Carolina.
We strive to offer a quality plant at a reasonable price. We are very concerned with what is happening to the environment in our part of the world and as a result, are extremely cautious of the chemicals being used today in our industry. We still do all our weeding, shearing, shaping and fertilizing by hand, one plant at a time, just like in the old days. We are not in the nursery business to win any races. (We are now really too old to race much anyway, but I think you get the picture.)
Plants today are being shock grown, faster and faster, with little or no regard to root development and plant longevity. That has never been a part of our methodology at Rabbit Ridge Nursery, nor will it ever be. Customers need to be aware that the most important part of the plant is in the pot- in other words, the roots. Roots are where it's at, so to speak. Regardless of what the top looks like, if you have a good foundation, the top will come along. If you are a parent, think our plants in the same way you raise your children: give them a good foundation and they will be ready to grow and deal with tomorrow's opportunities and it's challenges.
We want you to be satisfied with any plant you purchase from us. To that end, we spend the extra time with our customers that other Nurseries and the Big Boxes don't or won't do. We explain proper planting and care techniques, as well as pruning and fertilization practices. Many of our fruits are of proper bearing age when they leave our Nursery and have fruit on them so you know they are of age to bear. We also have our own pollinators, Honey Bees, at the Nursery to assure proper and complete pollination. We think we sell the best rooted plants around and we will stand behind them, and we know we sell the best quality potted Fruit Trees you will see anywhere at the lowest possible prices.
